ALEmentary my good man…
What a clever name, “ALEmentary”. It is like the word “elementary” but then you place the word “Ale” in front of it. At first glance it looks like a person from the south trying to mention the level their schooling stopped. I will give an example:
“Hey John-Boy, what level of education do you have?”
“Ummm… I reckon I dropped out from Alementary Skewl.”
But, this hybrid word will take new meaning for those lucky enough to live in the Northeast part of the state. You see, on April 16th, 2016 ALEmentary Brewing Co. is officially opening the doors to their brand new brewery in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Blake Crawford and Dr. Mike Roosevelt teamed up with a large pedigree in technology and biology to create the new brewery. While at the time of this writing I cannot speak to the beer itself, I can say that they have an impressive launch list including a Gose, a session, an American IPA and my favorite, a Kőlsch beer. I will definitely be starting with the Kőlsch.
While a new brewery in the local area is great, they are not the first to call Bergen County their home. Brix City and Bolero Snort are both Bergen County breweries putting out some excellent beers. The most exciting part about another local brewery popping up is that now there are so many choices for local fresh beer, you should be ashamed if you are not partaking.
ALEmentary will be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 5pm to 8pm and open at noon on Saturdays and Sundays. With a tasting room to enjoy and I can assume growler fills to go, there is no reason to stop at a liquor store when you have this goodness so close.
Regardless of your level of education, make a plan to get over there and taste freshness. If you can make it out for the opening, I will be there with my crew. We’ll be looking fresh. You know… when the whole crew on point? Yeah, that will be us.
I will see you back here soon!
