USA all the way!

On this upcoming January 25th, 2014 the 4th Annual International Great Beer Expo returns to Secaucus, NJ.  The International Beer Expo, if you couldn’t figure it out, is a beer tasting event featuring some of the best beers from around the world.  There will be some great international offerings like, Unibroue from Canada, 961 Beer from Lebanon, and Hofbrauhaus from Germany.  All great beers, but for the finest choices you don’t need to break out your globe and search for Carmen Sandiego, because the best brews that will be featured at the International Beer Expo are from right here in the good old US of A.

American beer has come a long way from its humble beginnings.  Now American beer offerings are some of the best in the world and should never be overlooked.  Our good friends over at Nash Distributors and Starfish Junction have put together a great selection of American brews for this year’s beer expo and we can’t wait to enjoy them.  In the meantime, here is a preview of the great American brews you are likely to find there.

According to Nash Distributors, Leinenkugel will have a huge presence at the event.   Leinenkugel has been brewing beer out in Wisconsin since the late 1800s and they offer a wide selection of beers including their Orange Shandy (Summer Shandy will be here before you know it, but the Orange Shandy will highlight their Shandy line-up at the Expo).  Speaking of great brews from Leinenkugel their Canoe Paddler is a must!  Paddler is an easy drinking Kolsch style beer that you should always have on hand.  I think it’s perfect for having a beer when you get home from work or when friends drop by unexpectedly.  If my words aren’t enough, how about the fact that Leinenkugel’s Kolsch has won the gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival for Kolsch brews?

One of my personal favorite US breweries is Victory Brewing from Downingtown, PA just outside of Philly will be there.  Their Hop Devil IPA is another one of those beers that you want to keep on hand for when friends drop by.  It’s flavorful, refreshing, and not heavy which makes is a great brew to drink with your buds.  But, I am most excited to try their DirtWolf DIPA. Dirtwolf is a new Double IPA from Victory that’s getting great reviews, people are howling about it.

I love beer in cans.  Every summer I search far and wide for great canned offerings and constantly find that San Francisco based brewery 21st Amendment cans some of the best beer out there.  If Green Giant is the Cadillac of canned veggies, 21st Amendment is the Cadillac for canned beer.  Try whatever they have to offer you will not be disappointed.

Some other great US brewers that will be in attendance are Shipyard, Long Trail, Defiant, Starr Hill, Flying Fish, Thomas Hooker and Yards.  When you head out to the International Beer Expo you can try all sorts of great beers without ever leaving the US, both physically and in your beer selections.  I hope to see you there.
