Summer Holiday…

Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, are a different breed of holiday as far as I’m concerned.  Unlike the ‘nonsummer’ holidays that involve boring trips to various family members’ houses in order to sit around a tree and be on your best… err better behavior,  these are holidays best spent with friends drinking and grilling.  No holiday has a better feeling than Memorial Day.  It is the start of all the things we have been looking forward too for the past few months… Drinking outside.

On Memorial Day drinking outside gets taken to that next level with a parade! Every year we sit outside, drinking, watching our town’s parade march up the main thoroughfare.  Bryan would make rude comments to some of the girls marching by (most likely still in their teens and I’m not talking about their legal teens), we wave miniature American Flags, and then after it’s all done go to a BBQ.  What am I getting at?  American holidays were built for beer, so please drink an American beer this weekend.

Speaking of American beer, Jim and I recently purchased a 6er of Brooklyn Summer Ale.  So to keep with my beer review theme I will say that I wasn’t impressed and I will follow that up with the fact that I generally love everything that comes out of the Brooklyn Brewery.  It wasn’t that it was bad, it was good, I just wasn’t blown away by anything the beer was doing, but perhaps, that’s what they wanted me to think…

This strip also reminds me of that Phillies fan who vomited on that guy and his 11 year old daughter, proving once again, people from Philadelphia (Rocky Excluded) are scumbags.  Let’s go Blackhawks!
